Benefits of Topdressing
Why Should I Topdress?
The Texas soil structure and drainage can be modified by topdressing with sand or other corrective organic materials. Topdressing regularly can smooth out bumps caused by new sod installation (new home construction) and encourages a dense, lush lawn. Topdressing reduces lawn stresses, helps keep thatch under control, and acts as a natural fertilizer. Topdressing slowly changes the soil structure by spreading good quality organic materials that will help loosen the soil, reduce compaction and improve drainage and fertilization.
Prepping for Topdressing
Minimal preparation is required, please clear any obstacles in the yard so that we can navigate through the yard un-obstructed. We use a calibrated motorized spreader to give your lawn a consistent dispersed amount of material spreading.
Topdressing with Compost
Composting with topdressing offers numerous benefits for your lawn. It enriches the soil with essential nutrients, promoting healthy grass growth and improving soil structure. The organic matter in compost enhances water retention and soil aeration, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers. Additionally, composting encourages beneficial microbial activity, which helps prevent diseases and pests. By using compost in topdressing, you create a more resilient, vibrant, and sustainable lawn.
